Blues Concert: Mark Hodgson & Friends

DAYTONA BEACH, FL (Jan. 19, 2010) - Join bluesman Mark “Muddyharp” Hodgson and friends for a concert benefitting Daytona State College music students on Friday, Feb. 19, 8 p.m., at the News-Journal Center in Daytona Beach.

Proceeds from the show support the Watts-Greenlee Music Scholarship Fund, created in memory of the great saxman Nobel “Thin Man” Watts and King Snake Records founder Bob Greenlee.  Watts and Greenlee were icons of the Florida blues scene and profoundly influenced many local players.

"Mark Hodgson & Friends" will feature Hodgson on guitar and harp;  Bryan Bassett, lead guitarist for Foghat; bass player Dan Walters; horn players Ray Guiser and  Thom Chambers; drummer Billy Dean and special guests Karen Clancy and John Hostetter. Daytona State music students will also be showcasing their talents. The Cook Brothers Trio will also take the stage to perform selections from the great jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt.

Admission to the concert is $22. Tickets are available in advance online at www.DaytonaState.edu/MarkHodgson, or from the News-Journal Center Box Office, 221 N. Beach St., (386) 226-1927. The box office is open Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Students with Daytona State College ID admitted free.
