Engineering Technology is the profession in which knowledge of the applied mathematical and natural sciences gained by higher education, experience, and practice is devoted to the application of engineering principles and the implementation of technological advances for the benefit of humanity. Engineering Technology education for the professional focuses primarily on analyzing, applying, implementing and improving existing technologies and is aimed at preparing graduates for the practice of engineering closest to the product improvement, manufacturing, and engineering operational functions.
Students graduating from Daytona State College’s Engineering Technology program will be prepared to effectively work as part of an engineering team. Specifically, graduates will be able to translate theoretical designs into actual products in professions such as: systems engineer, process analyst, technical sales engineer, network supervisor, project engineer, calibration engineer, or programmer. Earning your Daytona State College bachelor’s degree will give you the skills to begin your career in one of these exciting areas!
Applicants for the BSET program must have earned an Associate of Science (AS), an Associate of Applied Science (AAS), or an Associate of Arts (AA) degree with an overall grade point average of 2.5. Students with a grade point average of between 2.0 and 2.49 may be admitted conditionally. AA graduates may be admitted to the program with the approval of the Chair of the BSET program. Those with AA degrees who have completed all core general education courses will be required to complete a total of 18 credits in appropriate technical prerequisite courses. AS/AAS graduates must complete additional core general education courses.
Applicants who have not earned an associate degree may be admitted to the BSET program if they have earned at least 60 BSET transferrable credits with a grade of “C” or better in all core general education courses. Applicants in this category must otherwise meet all other requirements for admission which will be granted by approval of the Chair.
1. Get Admitted!
Complete an Application for Admission. You can apply online or by downloading our application and submitting it by mail, fax, or in person at any campus. Continuing Daytona State students are still required to submit a new application for the BSET program in order to change levels.
Submit final, official high school or GED transcript including a graduation date. Students who graduated from a home school program are required to submit a home school affidavit. Submit final, official transcripts from any U.S., regionally accredited college or university you have attended. An official transcript is one that arrives in a sealed envelope.
If you graduated high school or have attended college in another country, please download the information sheet, Evaluating Credentials from Outside the U.S., and follow the instructions. Contact Admissions for more information about your transcript requirements. Please DO NOT submit your original documents to the College.
2. Get Financial Aid!
Apply for financial aid as soon as possible. Financial aid is available to students enrolled in an eligible program to assist in meeting educational expenses. Applicants should complete the FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov to determine eligibility. Daytona State’s school code is 001475. Processing time is 4-6 weeks. 3. Get Advised!
Meet with an Academic Advisor at any campus. The Advisor will assist you with choosing your first classes, requirements for program completion, and graduation plans. Take copies of your college / university transcripts. More information is available from the Academic Advising office.
4. Get Oriented!
If you are a new or readmitting Daytona State student, complete the online orientation. It will introduce you to some important information about the College and familiarize you with many important services available to you as a student. Login to your FalconNet Online Services at https://my.daytonastate.edu
You will need your College ID (provided with your acceptance letter) and your default PIN is your birth date in the format MMDDYY. If you have forgotten your College ID and/or password they can be retrieved and/or reset using the portlets on the login page.
5. Get Registered!
Sign up for your classes online via your FalconNet Online Services or in person at any campus Falcon Center. You can check course availability online. More information is available from the Registration Office.
6. Get a Receipt!
Pay for your classes either online via your FalconNet Online Services or in person at the Office of Student Accounts at any campus. The Office of Student Accounts offers a number of payment options to assist you to make payments while your financial aid is being processed or if you will not be using financial aid.
REMEMBER – you are not officially registered until you have paid in full.
7. Get an ID Card, Parking Decal and Books!
Get your student ID card and parking decal at the Campus Safety Office on any campus. You can also get your books in person or online.
