Program Description This is a state-approved program that fulfills the education courses, professional education competencies and practical experience required to obtain a five-year Professional Educator's Certificate in Secondary Mathematics. The program includes state endorsements for Reading and ESOL.

Note: This program is eligible for federal financial aid and state bright futures.

Additional Admission Requirements 1. Students must have completed two years of the same foreign language in high school or two semesters of the same college level foreign language to graduate.

2. Students must meet CLAST requirements during the first two years of this program.

3. Students must apply and receive an Associate of Arts degree before admission to the upper two years of this program.

4. Students must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 for admission into the program.

5. Satisfactory completion of the General Knowledge portion of the Florida Teacher Certification Exam is required to be admitted to the upper two years of this degree. Click here for more information or to register for the exam!

6. Satisfactory Level II background check by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Federal Bureau of Investigation is required prior to admission into the upper two years of this program. 7. Students must submit a separate application for admission to the upper two years of this program.

8. Students must maintain a 2.5 or better GPA in the bachelor's portion of this degree.

9. Students must have earned credit in the following program prerequisite courses: EDF1005, EDF2085, EME2040, MAC2311, MAC2312 and an additional 4 credit math elective (MAS, MTG or MAC).

10. All new applicants must enroll in a mandatory orientation class: SLS3355 in their first semester of enrollment (Beginning Spring 2010).

Notes 1. This guide is a recommendaton for the first two years. The Bachelor of Science in Secondary Mathematics is a 2+2 program and full admittance into the program cannot be granted until the completion of all prerequisite courses and special admission requirements.

2. This course is a required prerequisite for admission into the program. All prerequisite courses require a grade of "C" or better.

3. Select a Physical Science course from the AA requirements list.

4. After completion of the first two years, apply for admission into the Bachelor of Science in Secondary Mathematics program and complete all other admission requirements.

5. Students are required to have passed the Professional Teacher's Exam and their Subject Area Exam, in addition to completing all program courses prior to being eligible to enroll in their last semester of student internship.
